[Review] Pokémon Café Mix

Pokémon Café Mix is a mobile puzzle game with a cute Pokémon skin. Available for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android devices. In Pokémon Café Mix players match popular Pokémon figures by sliding and creating a chain link to in order to create delicious cafe style recipes. Pokémon patrons wander into your cafe hungry and leave happy.

A Mobile Pokémon Experience

You won’t find a full Pokémon experience here. Pokémon Café Mix is designed for mobile devices from the ground up. In fact, you must play in handheld mode if playing on the Nintendo Switch as the game is almost entirely touchscreen. Providing a stripped-down Pokémon experience. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, unlike many mobile games, I never felt pressured to purchase anything. A breath of fresh air when it comes to mobile games.

Gotta Serve Them All

As Pokémon visit your Café, you’re met with a series of challenges based on their orders. After completing a specific number of orders you can open up new recipes and even have new Pokémon join your staff. It’s like having your very own Pokémon Starbucks! The games’ aesthetic is absolutely adorable which only adds to its lighthearted gameplay. Which by the way, isn’t too challenging. The difficulty only increases in small doses. Which means players shouldn’t have any trouble getting through its many puzzles. Pokémon Café Mix is an uncomplicated and lighthearted mobile experience that’s fun to jump into when you want to pass a little time. It’s the perfect game to play in short bursts or while you’re waiting in line for your coffee to be made.
